The reason for these changes is purely down to consumer demand. Over the past couple of years, we have received a vast amount of feedback from consumers saying that they would love to be able to take their favourite Crispbread to work or out with them, without having to wrap up a few slices in foil or take the whole pack to the office. That's why we created the Lunch packs - smaller packs that you can pop in your lunchbox or (carefully) in your bag and take out and about with you.
Even if you don't want to take your Crispbread out of home with you, the other benefit of the new packaging is that it stores much more tidily in your cupboards at home. A square, sturdy cardboard box with smaller packs inside. If you tend to make your pack last a few weeks, then you don't need to worry about the product going stale after opening the pack, as you will have lots of individual packs.
Even though many Ryvita customers told us that they wanted the convenience of a smaller pack, we do also recognise that we will use more packaging material as a result. For that reason we are proud to announce that we are now part of the UK Plastics Pact, through which we have committed to hit a series of ambitious targets
· Eliminate problematic or unnecessary single-use plastic packaging through redesign, innovation or alternative (re-use) delivery models.
· 100% of plastic packaging to be reusable, recyclable or compostable
· 70% of plastic packaging effectively recycled or composted
· 30% average recycled content across all plastic packaging
The UK Plastics Pact is the first of its kind in the world which aims to transform the plastic packaging system in the UK and keep plastic in the economy and out of the ocean.
We will continue to work on solutions to meet the targets above as soon as possible.
