What is Rye?

Rye is a cereal grain, like wheat, oats or barley. It's a tough plant that can grow in harsh cold and windy conditions - it's even grown as far north as the Arctic Circle! At Ryvita all of our Rye is grown in the UK and we work closely with all our farmers to support the British countryside. We are proud to support the Prince’s Countryside Fund, which looks to support the countryside.  

 

Why is Rye good for me?

Due to the nature of wholegrains, rye is naturally high in fibre and a great source of magnesium, iron and zinc. At Ryvita, we use wholegrain rye flour to make our Crispbread which means we capture lots of this natural goodness in every bite.

 

So what is a Wholegrain?

An ingredient that is wholegrain includes all parts of the grain – the bran (outer layer), endosperm (energy rich middle) and the germ (nutritious core), with just the inedible husk removed. Wholegrains have around 4 times the amount of fibre as refined grains and rye fibre helps maintain a healthy digestive system*.

Magnificent Magnesium
